Gambling: How to Curb Your Urge to Splurge
Do you have the tendency to splurge all your winnings right back into the gambling game again where you just won a favorable amount? Do you hate yourself afterwards after having used up all those winnings as fast as it arrived in your hands? Do you think that you will have a hard time to curb this urge in using your money every time you feel in the mood for playing on casinos?
First thing you have to understand is that you are not alone. That's right. You and many other players were tempted, and opted to give in to the temptation of using their winnings once again for that day, on that same game, where they just got their just reward for their earlier efforts at gaming. So, don't think you've got a certain different case that other players aren't experiencing because that's not the case after all.
Next thing that you have to put your attention to is that you have to acknowledge that there are various ways to curb these disadvantageous urges of yours when it comes to your winnings and your manner of playing.
Here are some steps for you to follow:
* When you win, immediately set aside some proportions in different groups of usage. After you win in gambling, be quick to segregate it into different amounts and usage. One may be meant for playing again. Another can be for savings. And another can be for other things that you would like to buy with that amount. The list is endless. But, it's up to make it and stick to it to make it work for you.
* Let a friend or family member remind you of your goal to stay ahead of your winnings. It's understandable if you forgot to stay on track of your funds. But, don't make this a reason all the time, or you'll never get rid of this habit of yours of spending all you have. To help you, enlist the aid of friends or family that understands your situation, and are also supportive enough to help you see you make the necessary changes that you wanted.
* Take this a little step at a time. You have developed that habit for quite some time already, so cut yourself some slack. If you manage to splurge again, just remind yourself that just as how long you formed this habit, you need a lot of time, too, to get out of it, especially if the habit is deeply ingrained in your system.
It doesn't mean that if you're playing on casinos, you are a person who spends all you've got. So, get rid of that temptation once and for all. And see how better it is to have something for yourself that you managed to keep.
